Romeo, Pringle raring to bounce back as they look forward to next conference

After leading GlobalPort to its first semifinals appearance and falling short in the end just makes
Terrence Romeo and Stanley Pringle even more motivated to come back and close out the deal next time around.
“That’s my mindset in whatever I do. I always try to improve to get better and the next conference is something I look forward to,” said the reigning Rookie of the Year.
Romeo, ehe league’s leading score, also said that he’s looking forward bounce back but the challenges of an import-laden conference isn’t lost on him.
“Laging nandoon yung hunger makabawi at excitement. Mas mahirap na next conference dahil may mga import, kaya bagong adjustment yan at lalong mas dapat pagbubutihan namin.”
Despite a conference to remember, the Batang Pier’s campaign came to a halt after bowing to Alaska, 4-1 in a hardfought best-of-7 semifinals series in the 2016 Smart Bro PBA Philippine Cup.
Romeo admitted that though the team was disappointed with the defeat, collectively, they were happy to make the breakthrough this conference.
“Di namin napuntahan yung gusto naming ma-accomplish pero masaya pa rin kami dahil sa narating ng team. At least, nagawa namin yung best makapasok ng semis at marami kaming natutunan. I’m sure madadala namin yun sa mga darating naming games. Kung makarating man ulit kami sa semis, at least na-feel na namin yung laro sa semis,” he said.
“It’s good that we got here. We just got to build on our progress this conference. We did left genuinely happy with the way we played,” said Pringle, still feeling the sting of the loss.
Though inexperience played a huge factor in the Batang Pier’s demise to a seasoned Alaska side, Romeo is grateful for the learnings the team could use in the future.
“Isa ito sa mga iniisip ko na napakagandang experience para sa akin.”
“Alaska yung pinakamagaling mag-scout sa defense at napaka-organized nila. At least, yung mga natutunan namin, di basta matututunan kung di mo mararating yung semis,” said Romeo.
The former FEU Tamaraw also looked at the run as something of a test of character for the whole squad.
“Kami as a team, nagsama-sama kami, nabuo, at dumaan sa butas ng karayom bago pumasok sa semis. Tingin ko ito yung stepping stone namin para mas gumanda yung chemistry at maging solid kami lalo,” Romeo said.
