TNT enlists David Simon to replace Johnson
After playing virtually without an import for three games, TNT will finally have one with David Simon coming in to rescue the Tropa.
Team manager Virgil Villavicencio confirmed that the 33-year-old Simon is set to arrive to the country on Monday, giving the import enough time to be acclimated to the PBA style of play in preparation for Wednesday’s game against Alaska.
The 2012 Adriatic League MVP is coming off of a stint with Seoul SK Knights where he averaged 20.5 points, 8.9 rebounds, and 2.0 assists the past season.
Coach Jong Uichico is “hopeful” that the management will get the import it is looking for.
TNT is 1-2 so far to start this conference. It won its first game against Blackwater after Ivan Johnson served his one-game suspension, but had to see the temperamental import ejected midway in the second period in their game against Meralco.
GlobalPort also took advantage of the Tropa’s import problems, pouncing on them to nail the 108-101 victory on Friday.
