Phoenix sends Fortuna to GlobalPort
Jeric Fortuna is set for a reunion with coach Pido Jarencio as the diminutive playmaker has been traded by Phoenix to GlobalPort.
The Office of the Commissioner approved the trade on Tuesday, with the Fuel Masters acquiring the Batang Pier’s 2018 second round pick, either from Meralco or San Miguel.
Fortuna is expected to bolster GlobalPort’s guard rotation with Stanley Pringle still recovering from a right ankle sprain.
The former UST Growling Tiger’s entry can pave way for Terrence Romeo’s return to the shooting guard position with Fortuna set to share minutes with guards Joseph Yeo, Jonathan Uyloan, Paolo Taha and Roi Sumang.
GlobalPort is currently on a two-game losing skid with a 2-3 record.
The Batang Pier returns to the court on Sunday against Blackwater.
Phoenix, meanwhile, will remain with a bevy of options when it comes to guards, with RR Garcia, Josh Urbiztondo, Chico Lanete, Emman Monfort, and Paul Sorongon at coach Koy Banal’s disposal.
