Rain or Shine, TNT nab wins in Women’s 3-on-3

Sarah Mercado saved TNT in the clutch as she converted a three-point play for a 10-8 win over Meralco in the PBA Tag Heuer Women’s 3-on-3 Tournament Friday at Smart Araneta Coliseum.
With Jaira Baarde tying the game at 7, Mercado went on a strong move down low and completed the bonus, as Karen Salopong had an undergoal stab to seal the win.
Mercado led TNT (3-1) with five points in the victory.
Salopong had three markers, while Diwa Corazon Paz got one.
Kath Binamira topped Meralco (1-4) with four points, while Baarde and Janice Abesamis got two apiece.
In the second game, Ara Abaca stamped her class to carry Rain or Shine to a 13-8 win over GlobalPort.
Abaca powered her squad with seven points, while Rubelyn Mendoza drained a pair of two-pointers for her four markers.
Nicole Garcia also had two to help Rain or Shine rise to 4-1.
Julie Pearl Gula captained GlobalPort (2-2) with four points.
