Under Armour Batang PBA 12 and Under fires off Sunday
The next Mark Caguioa and the future Jayson Castro showcase their blossoming skills when the 2016 Under Armour-Batang PBA 12 & Under tournament unfolds today at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.
Kicking off the action is the 10:30 am. curtainraiser between the Batang Alaska Aces and the Batang NLEX Road Warriors followed by the 12 noon showdown between Batang Tropang TNT and the Batang Globalport.
PBA commissioner Chito Narvasa will be the guest of honor in the 10 a.m. inaugural ceremony.
“Development and training start early here in the PBA,” said Narvasa.
Now on its 11th year, the competition will feature participants chosen after four sessions conducted by members of the Basketball Coaches Association of the Philippines in workshops held April 9 and 10, and April 16 and 17.
The tournament format calls for the 12 teams to be divided into two groups. The top two after a single round elimination advance to the crossover semifinals. The winners then clash for the championship.
Succeeding games after the opening will be at the JCSGO gym in Cubao and the Philippine Science High School gym in Diliman, Quezon City, with the finals at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
