Batang PBA: Alaska, GlobalPort make impressive debuts

GlobalPort and Alaska had scintillating debuts to kickstart their campaign in the Under Armour Batang PBA 12-under tournament Sunday at Ynares Sports Arena.
The Batang Pier made quick work of Tropang TNT with a 72-38 rout in the first game.
Joaquin Espina led his team with 11 points, while Roan Dagdagan added eight points.
Arturo Fernando Tupaz and Rafael Carlo Tan added seven points apiece for GlobalPort.
The Batang Pier raced to a 15-4 edge early and never looked back.
Timothy Cruz paced TNT with 15 points, John Luis Cuaresma added eight markers, and Steven Chan got seven in the defeat.
In the second game, Christian Sy quarterbacked a fourth quarter attack as Alaska staved off NLEX, 62-48.
Sy scored eight of the Aces’ 17 fourth quarter points to turn a 36-35 deficit going to the fourth to a 14-point victory. He finished with 16 markers to lead his squad while Rhein Miranda chipped in 11 markers, and Eachei Mendoza scored seven points.
Enzo Samson led the Road Warriors with nine points, while Paolo Galotera had eight.
