Cloudfoune Batang PBA: Phoenix, Mahindra gut out wins
Phoenix and Mahindra gutted out victories in the Cloudfone Batang PBA 16 and Under Tournament Monday at Philippine Science High School Gym.
Elmar Marsonia uncorked 30 points to carry the Fuel Masters to a huge 70-62 win over NLEX.
Phoenix used a 26-point fourth quarter surge to steal the game in the clutch.
Thyron Macaspac added 13 markers while Restu Damaso poured 12 in the second win for the Fuel Masters.
John Robert Diones carried the Road Warriors with 18 points, while Kent Inigo chipped in 15 in the loss.
Mahindra also fended off Alaska, 69-62 in the other game.
Kyle Nicholas Ramilo lit up for 25 points to carry the Enforcers to their breakthrough win.
Adrian Lopez matched him with 25 markers for Alaska in the losing effort, while Kurt Gonzales had 19.
Rain or Shine also beat TNT in the first game by default.
Under the Batang PBA Rules, there must be at least nine players before the start of the game. The game commenced with only eight players for the Tropa as the rest of the team got stuck in traffic from Las Piñas. It also didn’t help that their service vehicle got stalled due to a flat tire.
