Five players hit double-digit scoring to lift San Miguel Beer over Metro Manila champion Meralco, 82-75, Saturday at the start of the 2016 Cloudfone Batang PBA National Finals at Blue Eagle gym.
Clark Santa Cruz scored 16 points to lead SMB while Raymond Matthew King added 12 points.
Emmanuel John dela Rosa and Clarence Andrei Ramos had 11 points apiece while Jharles Jaideeson Uy chipped in 10 as San Miguel avenged its loss to Meralco in the Metro Manila stage.
SMB spoiled Francis Glorioso’s 37-point explosion.
In other Day 1 matches, Iloilo rolled back Davao, 98-84, behind a scorching fourth quarter run, while Pampanga crushed Laguna, 83-55, after opening with a 19-7 first quarter surge.
