Cyrus Baguio had a long illustrious career with the Alaska Aces where he won two of his three titles and got several Finals appearances.

He may have left his team of spent six years, but Baguio already feels at home with his new team in the Phoenix Fuel Masters.

Baguio reunited with familiar faces from his first franchise including Mick Pennisi, who welcomed him when he arrived for his first practice with the Fuel Masters.

“Sabi ko nga kay Mick ‘I’m home,’” said Baguio, who was drafted  Red Bull in 2003. “Masaya naman, andyan sila, at home ako na parang bumalik din ako sa Red Bull, okay naman pag welcome sa akin.”

Helping Baguio ease into the new team are former teammates Pennisi, Willie Wilson, Chico Lanete and Mark Borboran.

Baguio has yet to play a game with Phoenix after sitting out the team’s opening game loss to Meralco in the Governors’ Cup Friday at Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The veteran gunner admitted, though, as that he will miss not only the on-court moments but the bond he has formed with the players and their families in alaska.

“Malungkot kasi naka close ko na mga teammates ko, family nila, mga asawa nila,” said Baguio. “Tagal din ng six years pero kailangan mag move on at mag-simula uli.”
