SBP, PBA start discussions on Gilas’ future
The Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas led by its president Al Panlilio has started talks with the Philippine Basketball Association in an effort to strike harmonious working relationship with the pro league as Gilas Pilipinas charts its future.
Panlilio, who took over from PLDT big boss and sports patron Manny V. Pangilinan, has laid out his plans for Gilas during a meeting with the PBA Ad Hoc Committee on Tuesday. Representing the Ad Hoc Committee are PBA Commissioner Chito Narvasa and PBA Governors Al Chua (Ginebra), Pato Gregorio (TNT) and Atty. Mamerto Mondagon (Rain or Shine).
PBA media bureau head Willie Marcial said the two sides will meet again next week to inform Panlilio whether his proposal is amenable to the PBA team owners.
