Just when everyone thought that GlobalPort has already found the right pieces to contend for a title, it immediately freefalled back to the cellar with early exits in the import-laden conferences.

This getting out of this funk should be the Batang Pier’s first order of business going into the next season.

“Panibagong challenge ito para sa amin. Kailangan mas maging consistent kami kailangan mas nag-iimprove kami,” said Terrence Romeo’s after the Batang Pier’s latest win Wednesday night.

GlobalPort was in cloud nine after booking its first franchise semifinals appearance back in the Philippine Cup, but the Batang Pier need to sustain the competitive edge if they want to contend in the next conferences.

“Hindi maiwasan yung disappointment ngayong season kasi maganda yung naging performance namin nung simula, pero hindi namin nagawa ngayon,” he said.

“Kailangan mas mag-hardwork kami. Kailangang mas mabilis naming makuha yung chemistry at laro ng isa’t isa, at mas makinig pa kami sa coach namin.”

Romeo was non-committal on what changes are needed for the team, saying it’s up to the Batang Pier management to make moves to recover from their back-to-back disastrous conferences.

“Para sa akin, coach na namin yung bahala. Wish ko kung ano yung wish ng coach ko,” he said.
