WATCH: Newsome dunks over Ammons, de Ocampo in succession
Meralco rookie Chris Newsome may not be the PBA’s slam dunk king, but he is no doubt one of the best high-flyers in the league today.
Newsome proved just that on Saturday when he rose for one poster dunk after another in Game 3 of the 2016 PBA Governors’ Cup between the Bolts and the TNT KaTropa.
With under six minutes left in a tightly-contested game, the 26-year-old guard exploded to the rim and threw down a facial over TNT import Mychal Ammons.

Seconds later, Newsome topped himself with another gravity-defying dunk after jumping over veteran TNT forward Ranidel de Ocampo, who was looking to draw the charge but was called for a blocking foul, using the left hand.
“The first one felt a lot faster. I had to takeoff with one leg just to get it there,” Newsome recalled. “The other one felt a little slow because I think I used two feet to gather myself, get up in the air and hang there a little bit. So I think it was the first one that caught me by surprise.”

Newsome’s back-to-back dunks gave Meralco a 104-103 edge with 5:04 left on its way to a 119-113 win and a 2-1 series lead.
The former Ateneo star finished with 16 points, three rebounds and eight assists in close to 38 minutes of action.
