THREE years after calling it quits, former PBA star Wesley Gonzales has found himself on a different side of the court as a radio sportscaster.

The high-leaping forward out of Ateneo, who was selected 9th overall by Fedex Express in the 2004 rookie draft, last played for Barako Bull in 2013 after a stellar 10-year stint in the Asia’s first pay-for-play league.

“First time kong bumalik sa PBA,actually matagal na akong hindi naglalaro. End of 2013 pa ata ‘yun. As in matagal na,“ said Gonzales.

Despite that, Gonzales makes sure that he’s always in tip-top shape, playing village basketball with his former team mates and friends

“Very competitive pa rin, naglalaro ako sa village namin, kakampi ko si Olsen(Racela) tapos kalaban namin sila Nelson (Asaytono) , EJ (Feihl) at Kiko (Adriano), “ he said.

Suprisingly, Gonzales shared that he hasn’t given up yet his long-time dream of becoming a television actor.

Gonzales said he misses playing in the pro ranks, but he was also quick to admit his body couldn’t take the pounding anymore.

Onofre John Andres
