Daquioag bothered by Aces defense, limited to just six points
After basking in the limelight the past two wins, Meralco rookie Ed Daquioag had a mediocre performance in the Bolts’ stinging 79-81 loss against Alaska on Wednesday in the PBA Philippine Cup.
Daquioag chalked up six points and two rebounds in 14 minutes of action, nowhere near his averages of 23 points and four rebounds in 24.5 minutes in the last two outings.
The former University of Santo Tomas stalwart admitted his game-high seven turnovers got the better of him and ruined his performance.
The 25-year old guard also admitted that the Aces’ physicality, especially on clamping hard down on their opponents also contributed to his playing woes.
“Itong game na ‘to first time kong makaharap ‘yung Alaska. Makakaharap ko pa sila ulit (kaya) s’yempre alam ko na ‘yung adjustment na gagawin ko and then maybe kailangan mabilis ‘yung pag-adjust talaga.” Jeremiah Sevilla
