Unlike most of his fellow rookies, Ginebra forward Jammer Jamito is not a product of a prestigious school like Ateneo or La Salle.

But his work ethic and faith in God enabled him to fulfill his ultimate dream of playing in the PBA.

The 6-foot-5 center out of St. Clare College was picked at number three overall by the Gin Kings, a move that caught Ginebra fans by surprise.

“Hindi ko akalain na makakarating ako dito sa PBA kasi hindi naman sikat yung school namin. Nagtiyaga lang talaga ako sa pag-eensayo, go hard lang ako palagi,” shared Jamito,

Ginebra fans gave Jamito a round of applause when coach Tim Cone inserted him late in the Gin Kings’s 89-70 win against Mahindra Friday night Araneta Coliseum.

“Nagpapasalamat ako sa pagtanggap nila sa sakin,” said the Camarines Norte native, overwhelmed to be playing for the league’s crowd favorite team and under the wings of Cone.

Jamito revealed that he nearly gave up playing basketball when St. Clare College lost against Centro Escolar Univeristy in the NAASCU finals.

But his girlfriend now wife Princess Joy encouraged him to pursue his dream and pushed him up when the going got tough.

“Lagi ako pinu-push ng asawa ko. Christian kasi siya, so lagi niya ako ini-encourage sa word ni God.”

Jammer and Princess will celebrate their first year as husband and wife on December 18. Onofre John Andres
