As the league continues to gain popularity, more on more players are crossing over to the entertainment field and even product endorsements.

Chris Lutz, Doug Kramer, Ronald Tubid, Ranidel de Ocampo, Ali Peek, Jimmy Alapag, Enrico Villanueva and James Yap are just some of the PBA players who have recently graced different product commercials in different media.

And don’t look now, Junemar Fajardo might also be in the same league as fellow 2012 rookie batchmate Calvin Abueva, who has a running television commercial for Alaska.

FEATURED STORIES

The soft-spoken Pinamungajan, Cebu giant is currently shooting a TV commercial for Petron, which is expected to hit the airwaves sometime next month.

“Yes, he will have his commercial soon. The big guy deserves to become big. He deserves it, he’s a nice and hardworking guy,” said the source, who requested anonymity.

The shooting of the commercial coincided with Petron’s tune-up match versus Barako Bull Wednesday.

The PBA earned more than P200 million last season from live gate receipts and reached new highs in television ratings.

And with the league’s immense popularity, don’t be surprised if faces of your favorite hardcourt warriors continue to be seen during program breaks on TV and billboards around the metropolis.

During the PBA’s glory days in the 70’s and 80’s, players appearing in commercials were common.

Legends like Robert Jaworski, Atoy Co, Bogs Adornado, Philip Cezar, among others were even regular fixtures on the big screen.

In the late 80’s, Alvin Patrimonio, Jerry Codiñera, Bong Alvarez and even Benjie Paras starred in a number of movies as well. (SBadua)
