Seated with the top teams at 3-1, one wouldn’t notice that a number of players for the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters are suffering from various injuries.

One of them is the burly JR Quinahan, who missed two games prior to their 91-83 conquest of Barako Bull.

Quinahan got ill with flu after their Davao season opener against Alaska, but came back strong as he scored 13 points in his first game back.

“Tsamba lang yun,” he said. “Tira lang ng tira. Sabi naman ni coach pag open ka, tira lang eh.”

“Swerte lang na pumasok yung tira ko kanina,” Quinahan said.

Another of the guys who returned from injury was guard Chris Tiu.

The former member of the Smart Gilas national team missed their first three games due to a sprained hamstring in one of Rain or Shine practices before the season started. Though he went scoreless in his first game back, Tiu said that he is getting back to his tip-top shape.

“Yung injury, ok na eh. Hindi pa ako 100 percent, pero yung injury, hindi na masyadong nakakabother,” he said.

The ex-Ateneo Blue Eagle added, “Ang inaasikaso ko ngayon is yung conditioning ko and yung timing. I’ve only been practicing for a few days. I’m still out of wind and still haven’t got my rhythm back.”

But Tiu said that he is satisfied with how the team is playing despite missing few players.

“We became deeper with the addition of the rookies,” he said. “Di na masyadong bugbog kasi spread out na yung minutes. Nine wingmen yung nirorotate ni coach.”

“I’m happy sa tinatakbo ng team.”
