The PBA commissioner’s office has finally approved the trade involving the Air21 Express and the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters.

In the deal, Rain or Shine will ship Ronnie Matias to Air21 for the Express’ 2016 second round draft pick.

Matias was a reliable wingman for coach Yeng Guaio until Rain or Shine was forced to relegate him to the team’s reserve list after acquiring marquee collegiate stars Raymond Almazan, Alex Nuyles and Jeric Teng in the last Draft.

“Yes, boss Lito (Alvarez) told me about it. And it was a good move, we can make use of Matias. He’s a scrappy player and he can provide us the height and hustle,” said Air21 coach Franz Pumaren.

“Hindi pa siya pwede sa amin lumaro against Alaska, kasi hindi pa siya nakapag practice eh. But he will already join us in practice tomorrow,” said Pumaren.

Matias’ arrival should be a boost for Air21, which is currently topbilled by KG Canaleta at the number three spot.

“May shooting din yan. Saka may depensa. Kaya he can be a great addition,” said Pumaren, who also has ace scorers Joseph Yeo, Mark Cardona, Bonbon Custodio, Carlo Sharma and Asi Taulava in his rotation. (SBadua)
