Talk ‘N Text and Alaska will open the new year with a bang when the two teams tangle in the 2014 PLDT myDSL PBA Philippine Cup Saturday at the Mall of Asia Arena.

The Tropang Texters try to bounce back from their 91-105 defeat against Petron last week, where they squandered a 15-point lead and was overwhelmed in the third quarter takeover of the Blaze Boosters.

Jimmy Alapag hopes that the one week break can change TNT’s fortunes, considering that the team has had a few games where they zoomed to an early lead only to fade in the end game.

“We have some work ahead. We welcome the break. We’ll get back and be ready,” he said.

On the other hand, the Aces are hoping that their 88-75 win over San Mig Super Coffee last Friday will finally put them in a better position to finish the eliminations in the upper half of the standings.

Cyrus Baguio said that Alaska needs to work on their consistency to get themselves in a better position once the quarterfinals start.

“Mahaba pa yung liga. Kailangan pa naming isunod-sunod yung panalo, lalo na yung effort na ginagawa namin na nananalo kami, sana di mawala yung depensa,” he said.

Game time between the 6-3 Tropang Texters and the 4-6 Aces is at 3:30 p.m. (RL)
