JUMPING JAPETH OUT TO STEAL SLAM DUNK CROWN
It is really for the fans.
That is what Japeth Aguilar said when he reflected on his participation in the All-Star Weekend, more importantly in the Slam Dunk Competition.
“I’ll just try to give the fans a good show,” said the lanky Barangay Ginebra San Miguel forward.
With teammate Chris Ellis trying to retain his title, it’s proving to be an interesting sidenote for Aguilar as he tries to best his aerial comrade.
“Alam ko na he’s going to be a tough opponent kasi he really could jump, tapos yung height pa nya, he’s shorter than me so mas advantage yun sa kanya for the judges,” he said, “Pero it could work against him kasi yung mga tricks din, ginawa na nya last year, so it’s going to be more difficult this time than it was last year.”
Aguilar said that he’s already preparing those dunks which he will try to deliver on All-Star Friday.
“Meron na akong mga ideas kung ano yung gagawin ko. May mga naiisip na kong mga dunks, pero di ko pa na-practice, so I have to get the timing pa,” he said.
“Hopefully on Friday, pumasok lahat ng dunks ko.” (RL)
