NLEX BUSY ON TRADING FLOOR; YEO TO GINEBRA
Newcomer NLEX has started laying the groundwork for a more competitive team in the years to come, and perhaps for a faster route to the top.
The Road Warriors, six-time PBA D-League champs, shipped veteran slasher Joseph Yeo to Barangay Ginebra San Miguel for the Kings’ 2015 first round Draft pick.
Next, they swapped picks with San Miguel Beer. NLEX acquired the Beermen’s first round pick in the 2015 Rookie Draft, giving up its 2016 first round Draft selection in return.
Both deals have been approved by the Commissioner’s Office.
NLEX, which bought the Air21 franchise some weeks back, now owns three picks in next year’s draft.
Barangay Ginebra, already oozing with talent, is assured of additional firepower with Yeo’s arrival. The explosive former DLSU stalwart played 40 games for Air21 last season, seeing action for 31 minutes a night. He was the Express’ third leading local scorer with his 12.4 points per game that went with 4.1 rebounds.
Yeo also proved he was no one-dimensional player the past season. Aside from posting a rare triple double, he was the fifth best local passer in the 2014 Season, dishing off 4.3 feeds a game. (JL)
