SILVER LINING BEHIND THE HEARTBREAKERS
Week 1 of PBA life has been quite tough for the Blackwater Elite. Twice they started hot and posted big leads. And twice they blew those leads and fell short in the end.
Head coach Leo Isaac, however, sees a silver lining in the setbacks.
“I’m dwelling on the game rather than the record. Yung mga instances na nagkaroon kami ng chances, yun ang tumatakbo sa utak ko,” he said.
One certainly can’t blame him after the Elite gave championship contender Rain or Shine a scare before dropping a 82-75 decision on Friday.
“May tining na ng konti,” Isaac said. “For the most part of the game, kami na nagle-lead.”
“We were able to scare Rain or Shine. There were scary moments on their part considering man for man and team for team, mas lamang sila sa amin. We were able to jump on them but unfortunately, we didn’t have enough gas when it mattered the most in the fourth quarter. Sayang lang,” Isaac said.
The soft-spoken coach, however, can’t help but focus on the aspects of their game which might have swayed the result a bit into their favor, saying, “It’s very frustrating that we gave up a 26-10 advantage sa turnover points. Wala na kaming magagawa na nawala yung bola sa amin, naka-fastbreak sila at walang depensa. Very frustrating yun at wala kaming magawa.”
Isaac also looked at the positives, the things he hopes Blackwater can carry over to their next games.
He said, “Yung bola nila, nakakadepensa kami and we were able to hold them scoreless sa three-points. Yung mga ganung bagay na pwede naming kontrolin, yun ang tinatrabaho namin. Yung mga turnovers, yun ang medyo concern namin ngayon. Masyadong glaring yung mistakes and it came at the part na medyo crucial na.
“Hopefully, we could learn the soonest para magawa namin yung dapat naming gawin.” (RL)
