GREAT TO BE BACK
Jimmy Alapag made his much awaited return to the PBA scene on Friday when he logged almost seven minutes and recorded two points, a rebound and a steal in Talk ‘N Text’s 99-71 win over Kia.
The Mighty Mouse admitted that he’s still shaking off the cobwebs from his two month hiatus, saying, “I needed to gradually work myself back to game form, but it’s good to be out there. It’s good just to run up and down a little bit.”
But in his short time on the floor, Alapag did say that he’s getting the feel for his game back.
“For a short time, I felt good. It was just great to be back out there with the guys and shifting gears from the responsibility with Gilas and back to Talk ‘N Text,” said Alapag.
He added, “I think going to tonight, I knew I was going to be on the floor for a limited time, so it was really up to coach Jong when he wanted to put me in.”
“I just stayed ready and I really needed that short time on the floor to get up and down a little bit and it felt good.”
The pint-sized point guard is also positive that his tandem with rookie Kevin Alas on the floor would be a matchup problem for the opposing teams, just like how he and Jayson Castro gave the other squads nightmares in the past years.
“You can expect to see that more as the season progresses. Both of us can shift to the shooting guard position, and at the same time, you have two ball-handlers who can create in the dribble-drive,” he said. “I can see and anticipate that happening later in the conference.” (RL)
