CRITERIA FOR PHL TEAM COACH SET
The search and screening committee created by the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas Board of Trustees two weeks ago to pick the next coach of the PBA-backed national team came up with a tentative set of criteria Tuesday to be forwarded to the SBP executive committee for final approval.
Present in the meeting led by SBP vice chairman Ricky Vargas were PBA commissioner Chito Salud, PBA chairman Pato Gregorio, PBA vice chairman Robert Non and SBP executive director Sonny Barrios.
The committee is looking at meeting again next week or even earlier once the criteria is finalized so it could then come up with a short list which will then be submitted to the SBP executive committee headed by president Manny V. Pangilinan.
A parallel committee to tackle the parameters in the selection process for national teams that do not involve professional players will be convened on Tuesday with the NCAA now represented by Paul Efren Supan, Jose Rizal University sports director and NCAA MANCOM chairman.
