Although Barangay Ginebra San Miguel fell short against San Miguel Beer Sunday, Greg Slaughter was happy that he had a strong showing in his much awaited duel with June Mar Fajardo.

“It’s always exciting going up against June Mar. Unfortunately, we didn’t come out with the win today, and that’s what we were all aiming for,” he said.

The 7-foot gentle giant said that nothing has really changed since their days going up against each other in Cebu.

FEATURED STORIES

“It’s nothing really new because at the end of the day, it’s Ginebra versus San Miguel,” Slaughter said. “I’m glad that I have the opportunity to have a matchup with June Mar like that, but at the end, it’s always about the team.”

Gregzilla rued in the missed opportunities against the Beermen, as the Kings committed a total of 19 turnovers.

“I think we weren’t there as a team for the whole 48 minutes. We got behind pretty big, and we just had to play back from that hole. We almost made it, but we came up short and that’s just not how we can play if we’re going to play for the whole 48 minutes,” he said. (RL)
