A BIG HONOR TO BE PART OF 40 GREATEST – MENK
A key cog during Ginebra’s ascension in the post-Jaworski days of 2000s, Eric Menk is set to take his place among the league’s greats after being named among the 40 Greatest PBA Players.
“It would be a big honor to be a part of that,” he said.
The 40-year-old Menk won the MVP award in 2005, making him one of the shoo-ins for the coveted spots.
Major Pain forged his lore in Ginebra, where he played for 12 years before injuries slowed him down and saw him join San Miguel in the ABL, and back to the PBA with GlobalPort and Alaska.
Menk said that the announcement still hasn’t dawned on him, but he is just elated to be considered for the distinction.
“I haven’t thought about it. Last year, people started talking to me about it,” he said. “I know it’s based on people’s opinions, but to be considered even is already an honor, for sure.” (RL)
