“Almost, but not quite.”

That’s what it felt for Talk ‘N Text coach Jong Uichico as the Tropang Texters fell to a 0-3 hole with a 95-96 Game 3 loss to San Miguel.

“We tried our best to win the game, they made big shots, yun lang,” he said.

FEATURED STORIES

For the second straight game, Talk ‘N Text shot poorly from the charity stripe, going 12-of-26.

Uichico could only shake his head since his charges fared pretty well from the foul line in the elims.

“It could be fatigue. I have no answers to that one. I know we can shoot free throws. The other game 12 shots, and this game, we missed a lot, so that could’ve made a difference. We just have to practice foul shots,” he said.

And as they brace for a tough Christmas with their season on the line on the 26th, Uichico is just ready for what the future holds for Talk ‘N Text.

“We do the same thing. We know that our backs are against the wall, but that’s how the game is. We’re here to play, try to win every game and hope to try to keep the faith that we can still get it back,” he said. “The only blowout game is the first game. It’s not that they dominate the game. We’re in the game all the time. Maybe we get lucky in the next game.”

Uichico added, “We’re trying to keep them in the lowest score as possible, but they find ways to score. What’s important is we just keep playing the game, make the plays, and keep defending, which we did naman in the past two games. The effort is there. We just need to get a win.” (RL)
