It was a mammoth outing once again for June Mar Fajardo as he lifted San Miguel Beer to its first ever sweep in franchise history with a 100-87 mugging of Talk ‘N Text Friday to take the Beermen to the 2015 PBA Philippine Cup Finals.

The Cebuano giant had 28 points, behind 12-of-17 shooting from the field, alongside 16 rebounds, five assists and two blocks to anchor his squad to the win, but he knows that they still have a big challenge ahead of them.

“Excited kami na makabalik ulit sa Finals. Kailangan namin magpractice pa lalo kasi pahirap ng pahirap yung Finals. Di basta-basta ibibigay yan,” he said.

Fajardo has improved leaps and bounds with his game, and even developed a reliable jumper to his already blooming game.

The 6-foot-10 center says that it’s an added weapon for him against the more traditional big men, saying, “Kailangan kasi nahihirapan din ako i-backdown kasi may help defense.”

As San Miguel awaits its Finals date, Fajardo spoke no favorites on which team he wants to face.

“Kahit sino sa kanila yung makalaban namin, kailangang taasan namin yung intensity, at galingan pa namin. Walang madali, lahat mahirap,” he said. “Kami as a team, maganda yung teamwork namin ngayon kaya walang imposible para sa amin basta magtutulungan lang kami. Wag lang maging selfish. Kailangan namin ng teamwork.”

He also treasures this second chance for a title, and he wants no let-up this time.

“Mahirap makaabot sa Finals, kaya ngayong nandito na kami, sayang yung opportunity kung di namin ite-take advantage. Kailangan naming mag-go hard lang lagi,” said Fajardo, as he moves a step closer to a taste of how sweet a PBA championship is. (RL)
