Sol Mercado found himself on the move once again as he was shipped by GlobalPort to Barako Bull in exchange for Denok Miranda and a 2016 second round pick.

The office of the Commissioner approved the trade on Thursday.

Mercado, who was earlier traded by San Miguel to the Batang Pier, only played for one game in his second go-round with GlobalPort.

FEATURED STORIES

The 30-year-old guard has suffered a dip in his production as he only normed 6.2 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 2.6 assists in a career-low 21 minutes on the floor for San Miguel in the Philippine Cup.

He also had nine points in his lone game with GlobalPort in the Batang Pier’s quarterfinal loss to Ginebra.

Barako Bull will be Mercado’s fifth team in seven seasons, spending his first two years with Rain or Shine before bouncing from Meralco to GlobalPort, and San Miguel.

With his entry in the Energy, he will reprise the role left by Miranda in hopes of rekindling the Sol Train of the past.

Mercado will join a loaded Barako Bull backcourt which parades RR Garcia, Carlo Lastimosa and former San Miguel teammate Chico Lanete.

Miranda, meanwhile, averaged a career-best 13.3 points, also a team-best, along with 2.5 rebounds, and 2.6 assists in 11 games for Barako Bull.

The 32-year-old will complement young guns Terrence Romeo and Stanley Pringle in the Batang Pier backcourt. (RD)
