REBOUNDING WIZ HOWELL BACK FOR TEXTERS
Richard Howell has returned to the Talk ‘N Text fold in hopes of finally landing the big one this time.
The 6-foot-8 North Carolina State alumnus led the Tropang Texters to 13 straight wins to run away with the Best Import award in the 2014 Commissioner’s Cup.
Unfortunately, they could not get the job done as the Tropa fell in the Finals to eventual grand slam champ San Mig Coffee in four games.
Howell averaged 19.5 points, 18.6 rebounds, 1.7 assists, and 1.5 steals in his 16 games with Talk ‘N Text, and would try to replicate those numbers in his second go-round with TNT.
However, he will be joining a very different Talk ‘N Text squad with coach Jong Uichico now at the helm.
Talk ‘N Text team manager Jimmy Alapag confirmed the return of Howell, saying that the rebounding mammoth will be flying in this weekend.
The 24-year-old Howell was only the second reinforcement for Talk ‘N Text to win the Best Import plum after Jerald Honeycutt did it in the 2002 Commissioner’s and 2005 Fiesta Conferences. (RL)
