Sometimes, monster numbers just aren’t enough.

PJ Ramos scattered 41 points, 20 rebounds, six assists, and three blocks in 46 minutes of action, but  Kia still fell to GlobalPort, 89-100, to jumpstart the Carnival’s Commissioner’s Cup campaign.

But the hulking Puerto Rican believes that it was just a case of first game jitters.

FEATURED STORIES

“I was good. I think it’s the first game so some of the players were nervous, so I think next game, we’ll be better,” Ramos said.

After feeling his way in the first half, Ramos got 26 points in the last two quarters as he almost single-handedly moved the squad closer to the Batang Pier.

He admitted that he was a bit rattled by the physicality employed by undersized counterparts Jewel Ponferrada and Kelly Nabong, but the longer he spent his time on the floor, the better he adapted.

“After that, I helped the team and did what I can. The second half, the team played better so I could move,” Ramos said.

And he’s just roaring to bounce back, anxiously waiting to get a second crack.

“I’m looking forward to it,” he said, as Kia prepares for Meralco on Friday. “Next game, we should be ready.”

And he won’t mind if he’ll play extended minutes again if that means pulling his team to the win.

“I’m used to this. I’m just happy to be here and I’ll just play hard,” said Ramos. (RL)
