Not only did he tally 31 points, nine assists, six rebounds and three steals, his biggest snatch of the night was also the game-sealing one, taking the ball away from LA Tenorio with 2.3 seconds on the clock and anchoring Talk ‘N Text to its fourth win in five games courtesy of a close 104-103 cliffhanger over Ginebra.
“We need to get one stop lang for the win. Ginawa ko yung makakaya ko kaya nakuha ko yung bola,” he said.
Castro said that his magnificent outing on Sunday was partly due to two things: their opponent and the situation they are dealt with.
“Nachallenge lang ako kasi Ginebra ang kalaban. Tapos kailangan talaga naming manalo kasi nasa gitna kami,” he said.
“Kailangan talaga namin ng panalo. Maganda yung execution namin sa defense at offense. Maganda talaga yung execution.”
He poured 23 in the middle quarters where the Tropang Texters made a run and came back from being down by as big as 17 in the second canto.
Though Talk ‘N Text is still far from the Finals contending form they were in last year, Castro still believes that little-by-little, his squad is slowly getting into the groove under coach Jong Uichico.
“One game at a time. Di namin tinitingnan na nandun agad kami sa ganung level of play,” he said. “Maganda lang yung communication namin. On offense, maganda yung execution namin kasi we run good plays para sa import and sa mga locals na rin namin. Maganda yung contribution ng bench namin. Ready lang sila to play kaya ganito yung nilalaro namin.” (RL)
