A week removed from his bad fall in Cagayan de Oro, Meralco import Josh Davis admitted that he’s still playing through pain when the Bolts took on NLEX Friday night.

“There’s still some soreness, but it’s not anything that will hinder me, and there’s still some swelling,” he said.

Pain or soreness notwithstanding, Davis still managed to score 19 points and pull down 11 rebounds before fouling out after 32 minutes of action.

However, Meralco would eventually lose the game to the Road Warriors, 76-89, as the Bolts fell for the second straight game after starting the conference 5-0.

Though defeated, the 24-year-old said that he’ll try his best to still contribute to his team’s cause.

“I think I’m about anywhere between 85 to 90 percent, but still a little step slow. Though for the most part, I’m doing good,” said Davis. “It’s something that causes discomfort, but I can push through with it.”

And he is hoping that the All-Star break will help him rest and better prepare for the final stretch of the eliminations.

“I’ll be doing a lot of therapy because I don’t take resting too well,” Davis said.

And Meralco’s fate is what’s always in the mind of the former San Diego State forward.

“We’ve got a lot of work to do to improve. We need to get ready and continue to keep getting better.” (RL)
