NLEX vs Barako Bull (03-24-15)_header

NLEX wants nothing better than to continue its run  as it ventures closer to its first post-elims stint in franchise history.

Winners of their last five games, the Road Warriors hope to move on to the quarterfinals on a winning note and possibly finish at fourth when they battle Barako Bull on Tuesday in the 2015 PBA Commissioner’s Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

At 6-4, NLEX can go to as high as number four, its highest finish in the preliminaries since entering the league this season, after upending sister team Meralco which they beat almost a month ago, 89-76.

But first they have to beat the Energy.

“We’re still looking for another win against Barako,” said NLEX coach Boyet Fernandez, who already accepted his team’s fate of missing on the twice-to-beat incentives.

With the top three seed already claimed by Rain or Shine, Talk ‘N Text and Purefoods, the outspoken coach is gunning for the next best thing and that is to nab that number four spot.

“Just getting the best-of-three series is good for us,” he said.

However, Barako Bull is motivated to get back to its winning ways after losing four straight games.

A loss would drop the Energy to 4-7, putting them in a precarious position as teams still chasing a playoff spot could still force a multi-team tie to catch the last bus to the quarters.

Game time is at 4:15 p.m. (RL)
