BIG GAME FOR INSPIRED BIG GUY
Hoping for a miracle on Tuesday, San Miguel’s dreams in the 2015 PBA Commissioner’s Cup fell short as the Beermen could only beat GlobalPort by 12, 106-94.
Though a rout of the Batang Pier would have been a big boost for the Beermen’s quarterfinals aspirations, the squad has already accepted its fate.
“It’s a nice win for us to end our conference. We struggled, but I’m happy to end this on a winning note,” said coach Leo Austria.
However, Austria can get some sleep for the reason that June Mar Fajardo finally got his best game this conference, tallying 31 points, 19 rebounds, and four blocks in the victory.
Admitting that he was deeply inspired to play the game as his girlfriend Aerieal Patnongon watched for the first time in the stands, Fajardo took exception to the win as a good stepping stone for them moving forward.
“At least, nanalo kami dito sa last game. Kailangan na lang namin mag-prepare for the next conference,” the reigning MVP said.
As he ponders on the conference that was, Fajardo placed the blame squarely on themselves.
“Mahaba man o maiksi ang break, kailangan mo magtrabaho. Propesyonal naman kami eh. Nasa amin yun kung pano namin ikukundisyon ang sarili namin,” he said. “Di mo kailangan na i-motivate pa ng iba para lumaro ng maganda. Nasa sarili na namin yun. Trabaho namin ‘to.” (RL)
