Selected by Rain or Shine as the second pick in the 2014 PBA Draft, Kevin Alas was all set to don the Elasto Painters jersey in his inaugural PBA season.

That was until he was traded and found his way to the Talk ‘N Text camp.

Two conferences later and Alas stands on the opposite side of the team that drafted him for the right to win the 2015 PBA Commissioner’s Cup.

FEATURED STORIES

For the neophyte guard, he’s quite happy with the things he learned in his one month of practice with Rain or Shine.

“Lahat ng natututunan ko from the past, nadadala ko sa basketball career ko. Yung one month na kasama sila, marami rin akong natutunan. Sana madala ko sa Finals yung mga yun,” Alas said, adding that it helps that he’s familiar with the system and offense employed by coach Yeng Guiao.

Resident Rain or Shine bruiser Beau Belga, for his part, wishes only the best for his former teammate.

“Di naman yung mga tinuturo ko sa kanya yung papatay sa amin eh. Meron pa kaming mga bala,” the 6-6 bruiser said.

The titular series will also pit Alas against his former Letran teammate Raymond Almazan.

“Puro runner-up lang kami ng college. Siguro ito na yung chance namin na patunayan sa mga tao na kaya namin mag-champion,” Almazan said.

But will there be any love lost between the former Knights?

“Sa game, trabaho lang. Physical yung laro. Pero after the game, kaibigan ko pa rin sya,” said Alas.

Almazan, however, was curt in his reply.

“Sabi ko lang, ‘See you in the Finals.'” (RL)
