HOPEFUL HOT START IS NO FLUKE
Barako Bull is off to another 2-0 start in the Governors’ Cup, but the early run did raise some eyebrows as people fear that this might be a case of deja vu, recalling the similar start last conference before they went on a downward spiral.
But JC Intal sees it otherwise.
“This is a confidence builder for our team,” he said after Barako Bull nailed a 105-90 win over Blackwater Sunday. “We have a good mix ng bata at veterans. Maganda yung takbo namin kasi naguusap ang lahat sa court, which was rare last conference. Nakuha na namin yung balance ng team.”
Though the Energy have been constant customers in the trade deals, that didn’t stop them from finding the right groove with their players.
“Yung mga bago like si Joseph (Yeo) at Dylan (Ababou), veterans na rin eh. Simple lang yung mga plays namin. It’s more on defense yung reminder sa new guys and mas nakuha na nila today,” he said.
Intal took exception to the team’s ball movement, as he said that the 21 assists they had against Blackwater is an indication of the players’ trust on each other.
“Magandang sign yun para sa team kasi we’re moving the ball, we’re hitting Liam (McMorrow), and we’re making the most of his strengths,” he said.
And Intal is wishing that they could stretch their streak against Talk ‘N Text on Friday.
He said, “We just want to play our game on Friday. Hopefully, makuha namin yung game namin against them kasi in-out na nila kami thrice before.” (RL)
