Jarrid Famous sure hasn’t changed after three years.

The brash attitude, the hard-nosed effort on the floor and the drive to win: all of that is still present in the 26-year-old big man.

And as he struts his stuff for GlobalPort, Famous says that he’s after only one goal — the same goal he had three years before.

“I feel we could go to the top. We’re learning, we’re getting better. I think we’re gonna be great,” he said.

Though Famous’ first game was a tough loss against Rain or Shine in Dubai, the 6-foot-11 slotman has said that he has gotten better as his body adjusts to the climate of the country, evidenced by his 27 points and 18 rebounds in GlobalPort’s 123-120 win over Talk ‘N Text on Friday.

“I’ve adjusted more. I had so much travel before going to the Philippines, so it’s a lot on my body. But I’m here for five days now and I’m getting better day-by-day,” Famous said. “I’m definitely in a much better condition than Dubai, but not in how I usually am with my game. But I’m getting there.”

And as he joins the Batang Pier crew, Famous likes the promise the team has with its cast of players.

“This team is young and hungry. We have great guards, great slashers, great scorers. It’s a learning experience and I’m glad that I’m the older guy that can help get the team together and who will settle us down when we go crazy on the court,” he said.

His role might change, but not his drive. And Famous is frank enough to say what he wants by the end of the conference.

“I want the championship. We want the championship, and it all starts on the defensive end and that’s what we get from practice every day.” (RL)
