What’s the matter with Talk ‘N Text lately?

For the second straight game, the Commissioner’s Cup champs got drubbed, and this time, it was a humiliating 34-point mauling at the hands of Meralco Tuesday.

Though the back-to-back losses might be puzzling, Jayson Castro knows that the team has to dial it up on one end to fix its current woes.

“Sobrang sama ng defense namin,” he said. “For two games, almost 240 points yung naibigay namin. Problem talaga namin is defense.”

Castro discounted the rout as an off-night on offense, saying, “Kahit anong sama ng offense mo, kung di ka dumedepensa, wala talaga.”

“We need to focus on our defense. Nung nag-champion kami, defense talaga eh. Once maganda yung defense namn, madali na kasi andun naman yung offense. Yung rebounding din, kinain talaga nila kami,” he said.

The MVP contender also hit out to the critics saying that he didn’t perform enough in the game against the Bolts. After posting 34 points in the Tropang Texters’ game against GlobalPort, he only had 16 in Tuesday’s loss.

“Di naman laging sa akin eh. Kailangan din mag-step up ng teammates ko,” he said.

Castro continued, “Maganda yung depensa sa akin ng Meralco kaya kailangan ko i-involve yung teammates ko. Nawala lang ng konti yung aggressiveness sa offense kasi kailangan ko talagang i-involve yung teammates ko.” (RL)
