What a way for GlobalPort to snap its two-game losing skid – with a 28-point domination of NLEX on Friday.
Coming off of a five-day break, Rookie of the Year frontrunner Stanley Pringle said that the short breather allowed the team to reassess its standing and get its grills going towards the playoffs.
“It was good. We corrected some of our team mistakes like our defensive rotation. It was good for the team,” he said.
And that did wonders as the Batang Pier manhandled the Road Warriors from the get-go, allowing coach Pido Jarencio to field in all of his 16 players.
“It’s good to see the second unit come in and get some burn, get some running,” said Pringle, who finished with nine points and four rebounds in his 15 minutes on the floor.
Though some observers thought Pringle was hurt again in the first half of the game as they saw him limping a bit on the court, the top pick of this season’s draft assured everyone that he is just alright.
“It was a stretch issue. I wasn’t able to stretch. When I came out, I had something like a groin strain from stretching too much the other day. It’s all that was,” he said.
And he expects to figure once again prominently in GlobalPort’s next games against Kia and Alaska.
“No worries. I’ll be playing,” Pringle said. (RL)
