63 rookies

Of the 64 rookie applicants, only Jonathan Grey of College of St. Benilde failed to show up in the mandatory 2015 Gatorade PBA Draft Combine at Gatorade Hoops Center in Shaw Blvd.

The St. Benilde Blazer’s application has been deemed ineligible after failing to meet the league’s requirements of suiting up in the PBA D-League.

The PBA required all neophytes to play in the developmental league for at least seven games in a conference for locals, and for seven games in two conferences for Fil-foreign applicants.

FEATURED STORIES

Cagayan Valley picked Grey as the third selection in the second round of the 2014 PBA D-League Draft, but failed to suit up for the Rising Suns.

This brings the final count of neophytes to 63 as they all vie to get their names called on August 23 at Robinsons Midtown in Ermita.

Dale Leon Hodges appeared in the second day and participated in the eight-team tournament after failing to show up in the first day, where the players were measured and their various skills were tested.

Prospective top picks Moala Tautuaa and Troy Rosario also missed the rookie camp, though they were earlier excused by the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) as they have been named as part of the Gilas Pilipinas pool which is currently in Estonia.
