Another promising season is set to begin as the PBA ushers in its 41st season on Sunday.

It also marks the first season of new commissioner Chito Narvasa even as Chito Salud takes on the role as the league’s first-ever president.

“Like with the players and the referees, it’s bridging the gap of communication. That’s what I want to do,” said Narvasa on Tuesday during the PBA Pre-season Press Conference at Diamond Hotel.

San Miguel governor Robert Non, who serves as this season’s chairman, is confident that changes in the league will yield positive results.

“With the new organizational setup in the PBA, mas lalong uunlad at uusbong ang PBA sa 41st season and it will cement its place as the number one sports entertainment in the Philippines,” Non said at his opening remarks.

Incoming vice chairman Erick Arejola of GlobalPort and incoming treasurer Ramon Fernandez of NLEX were also in attendance at the presser.

The other team executives in attendance were Alaska governor Dickie Bachmann, Ginebra governor Alfrancis Chua, Star governor Rene Pardo, Blackwater governor Silliman Sy, Mahindra governor Tomas Alvarez, Talk ‘N Text representative Epok Quimpo, Meralco alternate governor Ryan Gregorio, Rain or Shine alternate governor Edison Oribiana.

The Governors were all in agreement that all the 12 squads manages to improved their rosters over the off-season, but most of them believe that reigning Philippine Cup champs San Miguel Beermen remain the team-to-beat while Talk N’ Text also pose a real threat.

Rain or Shine and Star renew their rivalry on opening day Sunday at Smart Araneta Coliseum in the lone game following a much-anticipated opening ceremony.
