Mahindra’s Guinto leads rookie race early in PBA Season 41
He may be drafted in the second round, but Mahindra big man Bradwyn Guinto is no second fiddle in his rookie class two weeks into the Smart Bro-PBA Philippine Cup.
Guinto, the 14th overall pick of the 2015 PBA Draft, leads all first year players in the statistical points table with 25.8 as of November 18 while top overall pick Moala Tautuaa of Talk N’ Text is second with 24.5.
Rain or Shine guard Maverick Ahanmisi, the third overall pick, is at third with 21.0 statistical points while second overall pick Troy Rosario is at fourth with 20.0.
Thrust as the focal point of the Enforcers’ system, Guinto immediately went to work as he averaged nearly a double-double posting with 9.20 points, 10.0 rebounds and 1.0 blocks per game.
NLEX’s speedster Simon Enciso is fifth in the list with 18.5 statistical points.
Meralco’s Chris Newsome, who leads all rookies in scoring with 11.80 points per game, is sixth with 16.3 statistical points but got 15 statistical points scratched off his initial tally after he got ejected in the Bolts’ 90-92 loss against the Aces.
