David rues Meralco’s poor endgame decisions in loss to NLEX
Meralco was only nine seconds away from a second victory, but the Bolts couldn’t hang on to it as they suffered a heartbreaking loss to NLEX on Tuesday.
“Nakakapanghinayang,” said Meralco guard Gary David, whose corner triple put his team in front, 91-90, with only 9.8 ticks left.
David rued his team’s endgame decisions — a couple of silly fouls and a botched fastbreak — led to Meralco’s sixth loss in its first seven games in the 2016 Philippine Cup.
Tough loss talaga,” said David, who had a costly turnover after stepping out of bounds during a fastbreak attempt with Meralco only down by a point with 3.6 seconds remaining.
Despite another painful setback, David still managed to draw some positives out of it.
Yung one win sa Star, umangat yung kumpyansa, yung depensa, gumanda,” he said. “Ang maganda ngayon. Yung character ng team to get back in the game, nandoon.
David believes that with a little more tinkering, Meralco will be able finally figure things out.
