Fan slips, injures knee but promises to still watch finals Game 6
Just like his favorite team, John-John Aragones refused to go down without a fight.
Aragones, 29, is the the San Miguel booster who hurt his knee while cheering for Beermen in the intense overtime period Wednesday night.
Watching from the Upper Box A area of Smart Araneta Coliseum, the super fan was dancing on the railings before he slipped, his left knee absorbing the landing on the concrete floor.
“Tumama sa semento yung tuhod ko. Hindi na ako makatayo,” Aragones said, while being tended by the medics after the game.
Though still in great pain, he was happy to see San Miguel come away with the 86-73 Game 5 victory and stay alive in the 2016 Smart Bro PBA Philippine Cup Finals series.
Aragones is a regular in the Beermen’s games, and even goes to the team’s practices. That’s why it’s no surprise that when some of the players went on to pray to the crucifix located at the dugout after the game, they even gave the fan a friendly tap.
Despite his injury, Aragones indicated that no pain could stop him from showing up for Game 6 on Friday at the same venue.
“Manonood pa rin po ako,” he said, as he willed on and tried to walk the injury off. He needed assistance, though, on his way out of the venue.
