Johnson returns as TNT face off with Meralco
Ivan Johnson makes his much awaited return to the PBA court for TNT on Petron Saturday Special.
Tropa will be up against sister team Meralco at Philsports Arena. Game time is at 3 p.m. as both teams eye a second win on each other’s expense.
There is no love lost between TNT and Meralco as both teams are looking to keep their stronghold at the top of the standings early in the 2016 PBA Commissioner’s Cup.
The Tropa survived Johnson’s absence and escaped Blackwater, 108-102, on Wednesday, leaning on the return of Ranidel de Ocampo and the clutch shooting of Jayson Castro.
But it would take more than just that to overcome the the Bolts, who are coming off a morale-boosting win against Star, 90-86, in the Wednesday nightcap.
Arinze Onuaku announced his entry to the league with 25 points and 22 rebounds for Meralco, which hopes to erase the painful memory of its 1-10 record in the Philippine Cup.
“Hopefully, we’ll win more than one game this conference,” said coach Norman Black, finally breathing that sigh of relief after the big win. “You don’t know how big this win was for us. I hope we will.”
