Aldrech Ramos missed his first three attempts on the field on Monday.

As he trooped back to the Mahindra dugout at the half, the Cebuano forward looked back on his previous performances and then, calmed himself down.

That was also the advice he got from his coach Chito Victolero during the break.

“Masama yung first half ko tsaka yung past games ko, masama rin,” he said. “Sinabi lang ni coach na laruin ko lang yung game ko at wag masyado mag-isip.”

No longer overthinking, the 27-year-old came back with much confidence and had a half to remember, pouring all of his 25 points in the final two quarters as Mahindra razed Alaska, 102-94.

He went on to make 11 of his last 12 attempts and grabbed seven rebounds to boot.

“Buti naman nakuha ko yung game ko nung second half,” Ramos said with much relief.

His performance also came at the right time with the Enforcers in dire need of a win to end a three-game slide.

Mahindra improved to 4-4 good for a sixth-place tie with Star.

“Importante sa amin yung game na ito kasi long break na tapos three games na kaming struggling,” he said, referring to the Holy Week break. “Malaking tulong ito sa bid namin makapasok ng playoffs.”
