Bad news struck Paul Lee anew when he hurt his left knee in Rain or Shine’s game against TNT on Monday.

“Just bad luck. My knee got hit when I landed,” he said, as he went down at the 4:02 mark of the second quarter when he challenged TNT guard Ryan Reyes’ three-point attempt.

Still, Lee remained optimistic he’ll be able to recover right away.

“Hopefully, it’s just contusion. The coming break is going to be helpful because I will have time to recover.”

The star guard is also confident about the Elasto Painters’ chances to make the playoffs.

“Yung chance, nandyan pa rin naman The chance is still there for us and we still have control over our situation,” said Lee.

The Painters are currently on a four-team logjam in fifth place with TNT, Star, and Mahindra, all carrying identical 4-4 slates.

“Hindi naman kami umaasa sa ibang team. At least, nasa amin pa rin, depende na lang kung paano kami maglalaro talaga, paano kami magba-bounce back sa next game namin,” he said.

Lee is also focused on regaining his game shape after being sidelined with a knee injury in last conference’s semifinals and returning early this month.

“I gained weight and I won’t be able to shed off those extra pounds easily. But my goal is to get to 200 pounds because I’m about 217 right now,” Lee said. “Before, I feel okay with that weight but the type of game today, I really have to cut down my weight and I have to do it gradually.”
