NLEX, Rain or Shine battle for PBA Women’s 3×3 crown
Missing out on last conference’s Finals, NLEX hopes that a re-tooled lineup will make all the difference as it guns for the PBA Women’s 3×3 championship starting Thursday at Philsports Arena.
Adding Analyn Almazan to their roster, the Road Warriors are positive that the former Adamson Lady Falcon will be the missing piece to what they believe is a championship-caliber squad.
“Para sa kanya, pressure din dahil nawala yung isang teammate namin,” said Katherine Sandel, who is one of the holdovers in the team together with Angelica Ortega and Fria Bernardo.
But it’s not just about Almazan, as the whole NLEX squad will go all-out when Game 1 of the best-of-3 championship series begins at halftime of the San Miguel – Rain or Shine game.
The Road Warriors advanced to the Finals after downing TNT in the Final Four.
“Sana makuha talaga namin yung title this season,” said Sandel.
But standing in NLEX’s way is Rain or Shine, which put an end to Ginebra’s unbeaten run this conference.
Ara Abaca proved to be the difference maker for the Elasto Painters, but she knows that they will be the underdogs against the heralded Road Warriors crew.
“Kailangan naming mag-training dahil yung NLEX, since college magkakasama na sila. Kumbaga kahit nakapikit, alam na nila kung nasaan yung bawat isa,” she said.
Abaca will team up with Rubelyn Mendoza, and sisters Kat and Nicole Garcia for Rain or Shine.
Defeated semifinalists Ginebra and TNT will duel in a winner-take-all battle for third game at 6 p.m.
