Anthony Semerad earned his very first Accel-PBA Press Corps Player of the Week following his career game on Sunday in GlobalPort’s thrilling 126-123 double overtime win against Meralco.

The 6-foot-4 Semerad, an underrated shooter, became the unlikely hero after burying a corner go-ahead, three-point shot off a Stanley Pringle pass with 14 seconds left to play.

The Batang Pier then held the Bolts scoreless in the next possession to finally punch their first win after a 0-4 start in the PBA Governors Cup.

The other half of the Semerad twins finished the game with a career-best 24 points, spiked by six three-pointers on the way to earning his first Player of the Week citation for the period of Aug. 8-14, beating San Miguel Beer’s June Mar Fajardo, TNT rookie Troy Rosario, NLEX’s Garvo Lanete and Phoenix veteran Cyrus Baguio.
